Der fliegende Holländer / Richard Wagner
'Der fliegende Holländer' is a myth about a captain and his ship condemned to roam the seas forever.
This curse can only be lifted by the declaration of everlasting love by a woman. With this opera Richard Wagner (1813-1883) shows his fascination for the redemption of man by love. This music drama is a gothic opera, a genre very popular in Germany between 1830 and 1840. In his magnificent symphonic soundtrack the sound of the sea is constantly present. A must for lovers of 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' or 'Tristan und Isolde'. Sung in German, Dutch subtitles.
