Een persoonlijk verhaal van een lichaam in opstand

‘SHAMELESS’ is een intiem dansportret van danser Victor Callens. Hij speelt moeiteloos met het 25 jaar oude archief van ICK Dans Amsterdam en ontrafelt zijn creativiteit met ballet en clip-dance. Hij legt al zijn troeven op tafel om de toeschouwer schaamteloos te plezieren. Een jongere Victor praat met ons door middel van projecties. De innerlijke strijd tussen kwetsbaarheid en daadkracht wordt als een fysiek monoloog gepresenteerd. Ben je klaar voor dit schaamteloze lichaam, of do you just let it slip?

  A personal story of a body in revolt

  Ropes are hanging from the ceiling, like snakes or ladders to the higher planes of creativity. Eminem’s words are whispered by the dancer: the road to success is hard, the pressure is real. He’s standing, challenging us with his gaze. SHAMELESS is a dance portrait, in which the dancer invites us into his inner world. He shows the struggle between ruling the stage and surrendering fully and vulnerably to the public. After dancing for Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten for the past 13 years, dancer Victor Callens plays freely with ICK’s dance archive, mixing it with ballet and clip-dance. The dancer’s body becomes a living archive of art. He lays all his cards out and plays the joker in a challenging game with the audience.

  A younger Victor talks to us through projections: an insight of the inner dialogues of a dancer’s mind. His vulnerability clashes with his strong presence on stage. A hero ready to battle any obstacle on his way to success: generous, unfiltered, shameless. Is the audience an ally or an enemy in this battle?
